Since 1898, Steel Pier has been an epic entertainment center where families and friends had fun in America’s Favorite Playground and made a lifetime of memories. The Pier also was known for showcasing the world's top entertainers as the place where they could reach a diverse audience of all ages.

From the 1920's through the 50s everyone who was anyone played Steel Pier, known as the “Showplace of the Nation”. W. C. And it's been said that Big Bands weren't really big until they started to play on Steel Pier. And for four years, Miss America was crowned in the ballroom of Steel Pier until the pageant moved to Boardwalk Hall.

And the second half of the century featured the Motown sound of Smokey Robinson and the Supremes and the Rock n’ Roll of Chuck Berry, the Alman Brothers and many more. Everyone played Steel Pier while thousands of fans enjoyed “The Amusement City at Sea”.
